Last year the Foundation was able to present 12 scholars grants for !1,500 each. He said proudly that service is at the core of Kiwanis.
Here come da Judge”, members shouted as Bob Tucker, our new Club President strove to the podium. He picked up his favorite wooden mallet which he called a gavel and rapped the Kiwanis Bell. Members rose to their feet. Vince DeLisi was ‘volunteered’ to lead the opening song. Without skipping a beat, he launched into “Tis of Thee”. Linda Weber lead the Pledge of allegiance. Our Prayer Reader, Bill Kelley is still away. John Wild riffled through his briefcase for the Kiwanis Prayer Book and offered an adlib prayer. Had he read a prayer it might have gone like this: Heavenly Father: Help us to remember that we are here to serve, not to be served.Remind us daily of the many who need to be Helped. Guide us to be there for others and assist them in times of need. And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. Amen.
Our new Prexy announced that there would be Board of Director’s meeting and a Foundation meeting  next week following the regular meeting. Prexy Tucker next advised members that Linda Weber had asked him to alert members to a “Toys For Tots” Golf tournament to be held 8:30 am on November 7th at Bent Tree Country Club. It will be a 4 person scramble and will cost $75 til Nov. 2, and the $95. Ask Linda for more details.
Secretary John Wild logged in 21 members today. (The Colony’s minimum cost per meeting is 25, so it behooves us to attend.) The guest Ed Mues submitted his application for membership which will be voted on next week. Tracey Sieder, past Lt. Gov. , was substituting for our new Lt. Gov. Nancy Sloan, The Birthday Boys were Fred Leahy, Martin Bobzien and Bob Tucker whose birthday is today. The happy Anniversary Couples were Glenn and Lisa Peterson and also Martin and Barbara Bobzien. We will be presenting a donation then. Our club has always made a go this event. So lets all think about going again. It really means a lot to the Aktion  Club.
Matt Walsh worked the room. Matt also displayed the new St. Jude Luncheon Poster. Also replacement event tickets were distributed due to the printing error of the wrong event date. The next St. Jude committee meeting will be next Thursday at 4:00 PM at the Sun Trust Bank. No member could volunteer to substitute as Bill Kelley’s joke teller. Had Bill been here he might have had this joke: A kindergarten teacher was walking around observing her classroom of children while they were drawing pictures. As she got to one girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like." Without looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."

Past District 18N Lt. Gov. Tracey Sieder was here to preside over installation of the new term officers. She began by thanking outgoing Board members. Matt Walsh was the only one present. New Board member Jim Larson was greeted. She praised John Wild for returning as Club Secretary. She noted that the secretary has the hardest job to keep up with all of the Kiwanis reports, etc. Bob Dawson was greeted as our Treasurer who has the responsibility of keeping track of all of the funds. Bob Gault who will follow Tom Michel as our president was recognized.
Last, but not least, she inducted Bob Tucker as our new President. Bob’s first order of business was to present a Foundation check, which he wrote 3:00 am this morning, in honor of his birthday. He noted that the Foundation is very important as function of the club.
